Paraje Altamira sits at 1,100 meters in the southern Valle de Uco, where limestone and granite subsoil pushes Cabernet Franc's roots deep and keeps the wine's herbal and mineral character intact. Dry conditions in 2022 concentrated the fruit on the vine — yields were down 10–25% in parts of the valley, and Cabernet Franc is specifically highlighted as a variety to watch from this harvest.
The Universo LB line is Ginard Ballester's low-intervention range. Eight months in concrete egg rather than barrel means no wood overlay, no toast — just the grape and the site, direct. The name Golem comes from the Kabbalistic figure of an animated giant: the producer's metaphor for the outsized mineral power of the Altamira terroir.
