The .1 is the backbone of every Octomore edition — Scottish barley, ex-American oak, the raw distillery character the .2 and .3 are measured against. For 13.1 that means Concerto barley from the 2015 harvest, distilled in 2016 and peated to 137.3 PPM.

Five years in first-fill ex-American oak, then a twist from Head Distiller Adam Hannett: in 2021 the spirit was recasked into fresh first-fill ex-American oak for more dark toffee, coconut and vanilla. Matured entirely on Islay, non-chill filtered, no added colour.

Smoke first, fruit underneath. Drinkhacker found it sharp and ashy on the nose, with lemon and apple on the palate and a long, briny finish, and noted that water helps. Drinkhacker B+.
