Octomore 14.2 is distilled from 100% Scottish-grown Concerto barley malted to 128.9 PPM — one of the most heavily peated whiskies on the planet. The distinction from the 14.1 is the cask program: four years split across first-fill Oloroso hogsheads (40%), first-fill Amarone casks (16%), and second-fill Amarone casks (44%), finishing in Pauillac wine casks for its fifth year.

The European casks pull dried cherry, fig jam, and prune from behind the smoke rather than dulling it. Head distiller Adam Hannett's selection makes 14.2 the most layered expression in the trilogy — the peat is unmistakably there, but it shares the stage.
