The Octomore farm sits two miles south of Bruichladdich on the Rhinns of Islay. The Concerto barley grown in its Village and Lorgba fields is malted to 214.2 PPM — five times the phenol level of standard heavily peated Scotch — then matured for five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks (50%) and second-fill wine casks (50%). Bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered, natural color.

What makes Octomore 14.3 notable is not the PPM but the balance: the peat is present, unmistakable, and deep, but the Islay barley's honeyed cereal sweetness holds its own. Five years in active casks integrates the smoke without burying it.
