The flagship, in half-bottle form. Buffalo Trace made its name on the once-a-year allocations — George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Pappy Van Winkle — but the everyday bottle runs on the same Mash Bill #1 as Eagle Rare and Blanton's, aged eight to ten years on the middle floors of the Frankfort rickhouses where the seasonal swing is sharpest.

No more than forty barrels go into a batch, a restraint that never makes it onto the label and the reason the flagship tastes the same bottle after bottle. Breaking Bourbon, revisiting it at 25 years on shelf, calls it "expertly crafted, highly drinkable."

The 375 is the practical format — enough for a run of Old Fashioneds, small enough to travel, and the right size to hand someone who hasn't met the distillery yet.
