Carballal 'Sete Cepas' Albarino 2024 750ml
SPAIN : GALICIA : RIAS BAIXAS
ORGANIC : Albarino
LIGHT-BODIED, LEMON BLOSSOM, WHITE PEACH, ATLANTIC MINERAL, NO OAK
Bodegas Carballal is a second-generation family estate in O Salnés, the Atlantic heartland of Rías Baixas. Patriarch Benito Vázquez was one of the founding promoters of the DO in the 1970s; seven brothers now carry the project forward. The "Sete Cepas" is a Galician nod to them — seven vines, seven siblings.
100% Albariño from two organic estate parcels, the older planted in 1978. Native yeasts, fine-lees aging for texture without weight. The 2024 vintage was a strong recovery year after a challenging spring, and the wine shows focused citrus and peach with Atlantic salinity on the close.
PAIRINGS :
| Steamed mussels with white wine and garlic | a natural Galician pairing; the wine's salinity echoes the shellfish brine |
| Grilled langostinos with sea salt | Atlantic shellfish and Atlantic wine; citrus cuts the char cleanly |
| Burrata with heirloom tomatoes | the wine's acidity lifts the cream; light enough for the summer table |
