Casa Jipi Nebbiolo Valle de San Vicente 2024 750mL
MEXICO : BAJA CALIFORNIA : VALLE DE SAN VICENTE
NATURAL : Nebbiolo
LIGHT-BODIED, RASPBERRY, BLOOD ORANGE PEEL, FRESH ROSE, SANDALWOOD, NO OAK
Casa Jipi — the name is Mexican slang for "hippie" — is a collaboration between Rancho Llano Colorado (the grower), Vinicola Bruma (the winery), and winemaker Lulú Martínez Ojeda, who spent a decade at Château Brane-Cantenac in Bordeaux's Margaux appellation before returning to Ensenada. The fruit comes from nine miles east of the Pacific in Valle de San Vicente, where iron-rich red clay and sandy loam moderate Nebbiolo's naturally high tannin into something lighter and more aromatic than Piedmont would suggest.
Nine months in stainless steel — no oak, no shortcuts. The result is a wine built for transparency over weight. Serve it lightly chilled.
PAIRINGS :
| Carne asada | High acidity and herbal register cut through the char; the dried-chile notes in a good marinade echo the wine's blood orange edge. |
| Mushroom tacos with Oaxacan cheese | Earthy, umami-forward — mirrors the sandalwood and dried floral notes in the wine. |
| Charcuterie | Light tannins and bright raspberry fruit hold up to cured meat; the blood orange note provides contrast. |
