Chateau La Freynelle Bordeaux Blanc 2023 375ml
FRANCE : BORDEAUX : ENTRE-DEUX-MERS
SUSTAINABLE : Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle
MED-BODIED, WHITE PEACH, CITRUS, GREEN APPLE, GRASS, NO OAK
Château La Freynelle sits on clay-limestone ridges in the Entre-Deux-Mers — the triangular wedge of Bordeaux between the Garonne and the Dordogne, historically the source of the region's most straightforward dry whites. Véronique Barthe took the helm at 22, becoming the first woman to run the estate in more than two centuries of Barthe family ownership. The blend is classic: 60% Sauvignon Blanc drives the herbal lift and citrus freshness, 30% Sémillon adds weight, 10% Muscadelle rounds the finish.
Low-temperature fermentation at 19°C, vinified by parcel in stainless steel, with partial malolactic fermentation to temper the acidity without softening the wine into something flat. Bottled early to lock in the fruit. Wine Enthusiast rated it 88 points; Wine Spectator matched it — both citing the wine's crispness and zip for the price.
PAIRINGS :
| Oysters on the half-shell | mineral lift and crisp acidity bridge the brine cleanly |
| Goat cheese crostini | Sauvignon Blanc's herbal edge locks in with the chèvre |
| Grilled branzino with lemon | citrus backbone follows through on delicate white fish |
