Tenuta Collazzi sits on a 400-hectare estate in San Casciano Val di Pesa — one of the more prestigious communes in the Chianti Classico zone — anchored by a 16th-century villa originally designed by Michelangelo. The Marchi family has owned it since 1933; winemaker Alberto Torelli has guided the cellar since 2005. The Bastioni blend is 80% Sangiovese with 18% Merlot and 2% Malvasia Nera, aged 15 months in oak.
The 2021 vintage in Chianti Classico is one of the finest in a generation — spring frost cut yields by up to 50%, but surviving vines produced small, concentrated berries with exceptional acidity and balance. Cacao, cherry skins, and earth on the nose; truffles and mushroom weaving through blackberry and tobacco on the palate; fresh and spicy on the finish. James Suckling scored it 92.
