Founded in 1588, Croft is one of the oldest Port houses still operating under the same name — its history predates the Douro's formal demarcation, the Methuen Treaty, and the modern style system that separates Ruby from Tawny. Quinta da Roêda, the house's anchor estate in the Cima Corgo, supplies the backbone of the Croft portfolio; Fine Ruby draws from the broader Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo network.
Fine Ruby is Ruby Port in its most direct expression — three years in large neutral oak vats to hold primary fruit rather than accelerate the oxidative aging that defines Tawny. The result is the Douro's raw energy: dark berry concentration, firm tannin, and the natural sweetness that built Port's reputation across northern Europe for four centuries.
