FULL-BODIED, BLACK RASPBERRY, RED PLUM, VIOLETS, PEPPERY HERBS, NEUTRAL OAK
Alomado takes its name from the rolling "lomas" — hills — of the Sonsierra Riojana, where the Ribarrey single vineyard sits at 550m on ancient Ebro riverbed soils. The co-planted 1970 field blend mixes Tempranillo with white varieties in the way old Rioja always did, before monovarietal thinking arrived — the 20% white component adds florality and lift that Tempranillo alone can't muster.
Eduardo Eguren trained under Sashi Moorman at Domaine de la Côte in California before returning to the village where he grew up. The influence shows: spontaneous fermentation in 3,000L French oak vats, gentle pigeage, 18 months in neutral 500L barrels, unfined and unfiltered. Jeb Dunnuck called it 95 points — "a singular, pure, polished Rioja" to drink over the coming 15–20 years.
PAIRINGS :
| Roast lamb with herbs | textbook Rioja — peppery herb notes in the wine mirror rosemary and thyme |
| Grilled Ibérico pork secreto | acidity cuts through rich fat without overpowering the nutty meat |
| Aged Manchego | firm acidic backbone and fine tannins against salt-forward sheep's cheese |
