The Auld family have been making wine for seven generations, going back to Patrick Auld who planted some of South Australia’s first commercial vines at Magill in 1845 — on land adjacent to what became Penfolds. Today, Sam and Jock Auld run the family winery out of Bethany in the Barossa Valley, carrying that history forward in everything from entry-level South Australian blends to single-vineyard Barossa Shiraz.
The Dean Creek Estate sits at the accessible end of their portfolio: a sustainably farmed, vegan-friendly South Australian Shiraz that Wine Enthusiast called a Best Buy at 89 points. Classic warm-climate profile — dark cherry and currant with a spicy, peppery backbone and easy tannins.
