Dom Pérignon built this special edition with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat around his 1983 painting In Italian — Basquiat's crown fused with the Dom Pérignon shield on the label, and the canvas split across three gift boxes, each carrying one segment. The wine inside is the house's Vintage 2015, unchanged.
2015 was a hot, dry year: a cold spring, then drought that ran to the end of August, with harvest opening on 7 September. Selection did the work, and Pinot Noir came through stronger, landing the blend at 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay with full malolactic. The house calls it dark and tactile — roasted cocoa and lime blossom up front, peach, nectarine and citrus drawn in a broad, straight line. Vinous 96 pts.
