This is not an estate wine, and the family is direct about that. Jean-Jacques Coudray-Bizot and Stéphanie Pouzin-Coudray make so little Puligny-Montrachet that in 2018 they opened a small négociant arm purely to have a second white, buying fruit from two plots just below the village of Meursault.
It was raised on its lees without heavy bâtonnage, so the texture reads as weight rather than creaminess. Decanter rates 2019 four out of five for Côte d'Or whites: frost, a failed flowering and two heatwaves cut the crop to two thirds of the year before, which concentrated sugar and acidity together.
