Vincent Ricard farms 2 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc in Thésée-la-Romaine, a village on the Cher River where his father sold grapes to the cooperative by the kilo. When Ricard returned to the property, he carved out a corner of the vineyard, slashed yields, and started bottling under the family name — a choice his neighbors found controversial enough to sue over. He won. The parcel sits on a sandy clay-limestone slope above the river, tended organically and harvested for balance. Fermented in stainless steel and bottled in late winter to preserve the citrus and flower aromatics at their sharpest.

This is the kind of Touraine Sauvignon Blanc that ends up on 36 Michelin-starred wine lists — mineral-driven, precise, closer to Sancerre in its intensity than to the Loire's softer commercial expressions. Drink it this year.
