Dujac farms 0.73 hectares of Les Beaux Monts, high on the northern edge of Vosne-Romanée where the commune runs into Flagey-Échézeaux. The plot sits between 277 and 289 metres, above the grand cru band, which is where the lift and the stony finish come from.
2019 was a hard year to survive: April frost, a cool flowering, then heat and drought through July and August. Growers across the Côte de Nuits came in a quarter to a half down on volume. What made it through was small-berried and concentrated, and William Kelley's read was that this higher-altitude site turned in a very strong performance because of the elevation, not despite it.
Whole-cluster fermentation on native yeast, eighteen months in French barrique, bottled unfined and unfiltered. The domaine has been certified organic since 2011. Decanter 95 pts.
