'Les Charmes' is a wonderful example of classically styled Pouilly-Fumé — richer in texture than most Upper Loire Sauvignon Blanc, built from 45-year-old vines planted on limestone-clay and silex soils. Native yeast fermentation in stainless steel is followed by aging in very old oak barrels, adding weight and complexity without masking the wine's signature stone-and-smoke character.
Lilian Baudin has helmed this 1685-founded family domaine — ranked among the top three producers of the appellation — since 2012, farming organically and standing by indigenous yeasts that give each vintage its own personality.
