Every Narjoux-Normand vine sits in Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu, the only village besides Mercurey itself allowed to make Mercurey. This is the family's Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise, from the parcels on the other side of the D155, the small road that splits their Mercurey and premier cru vines from their Bourgogne ground — 6.6 hectares of Pinot Noir aged 10 to 50 years, clay-marl soils, southeast-facing at 300 meters.
Hand-harvested, fully destemmed, then 12 months in three- to six-year-old barrels, a light filtration and bottling by gravity at the domaine. Older wood keeps the fruit in front. The family has worked these vines for ten generations; Frantz Normand took over in 1999, and his son Antoine now runs the domaine.
PAIRINGS :
| Roast chicken | round fruit, light tannin, no fight with the skin |
| Grilled steak | the domaine's own first pick for this wine |
