Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. built his reputation on the belief that bourbon should be made without compromise — the Barrel Proof expression is the most direct statement of that conviction. Bottled straight from hand-selected barrels, uncut and unfiltered at over 125 proof, it carries the concentrated character of Mash Bill #1 as it ages in the century-old warehouses Taylor commissioned at what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery.
The hallmark here is butterscotch — rich, condensed, grounded in seasoned oak. Toffee and vanilla pudding on the nose, figs and tobacco on the palate, and a finish long enough to carry cinnamon and pink peppercorn well past the swallow. Proof varies batch to batch; what doesn't vary is the profile.
