Finca Les Planetes is a northeast-facing plot on the outskirts of Porrera, planted by Carles Ortiz with a massale selection of indigenous Garnatxa, Garnatxa Peluda, and Carinyena on llicorella schist laced with iron, silica, and black clay. The northeast exposure moderates heat accumulation, producing wines with more perfume and natural acidity than most Priorat. Fermented with native yeasts in large oak vats, aged 20 months in neutral foudre. 10,020 bottles produced.
Ester Nin and Carles Ortiz are biodynamic farmers first. They plow their terraced vineyards with mules, apply homemade compost and biodynamic preparations, and hold Biodyvin certification. 94 points from both Vinous and Wine Advocate; opens meaningfully at seven to eight years.
