Found North Single Barrel Cask Strength Whisky 750ml

CANADA : FOUND NORTH

71% Corn, 29% Wheat

A single barrel from Found North's Season 4 program, picked for New York. It starts with the Season 4 base blend of five components: 21, 20 and 15 year corn whiskies and two 8 year wheat whiskies, one from new oak and one from ex-bourbon, for a 71% corn, 29% wheat grain ratio.

The finish is where Season 4 gets interesting. Found North worked with Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky, which toasts over a wood fire instead of infrared heat, and this 53 gallon new American oak barrel was toasted with French oak to a heavy toast and a #1 char. Four months in that cask, then bottled at cask strength with no chill filtration, color or additives.

Found North has since retired its single barrel program — the house decided even its best barrels were better blended — so the seasons are a closed chapter.
