Four Roses is the only American distillery using five proprietary yeast strains crossed with two distinct mashbills — producing ten unique bourbon recipes in a single facility. Yellow Label blends all ten into a single bottling, which happens to be one of the more interesting things about any bourbon at this price point. The practical result is a soft, consistent, fruit-forward whiskey with honey and stone fruit character and no rough edges.

The distillery in Lawrenceburg operates exclusively in single-story rack warehouses — a rarity in Kentucky, where multi-story rickhouses create temperature swings of up to 35°F between barrels. The single-story layout holds that variation to around 8°F, promoting a slower and more consistent maturation. Each recipe ages at least five years in new charred American oak.
