Kirin's Fuji Gotemba Distillery sits at 620 meters on the slopes of Mount Fuji, drawing water from snowmelt so soft it barely registers mineral character — the ideal base for grain spirit. Unlike most single grain releases, which are built on a single still type, FUJI blends three distinct grain styles: a light type from multi-column continuous stills, a medium type run through a Canadian-style kettle still, and a heavy type from a beer column and doubler. Fuji Gotemba is the only distillery outside the United States to operate both kettle and doubler stills — a direct legacy of its founding joint venture with JE Seagram.

The three styles are blended, cut with that same snowmelt, and aged in 180-liter American oak barrels — smaller than standard, which accelerates wood integration without hardening the spirit. What comes through is softer and more textured than most grain whisky: tropical fruit and vanilla up front, shifting toward orange peel, rye bread, and bitter chocolate as it warms in the glass.
