Gatto Grosso Vino Rosso 2022 1L
ITALY : TUSCANY
CERTIFIED ORGANIC : Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Mammolo
LIGHT-BODIED, RED CHERRY, RASPBERRY, MINERAL, FRESH HERBS, NO OAK
Cantina Viticoltori Senesi Aretini is a cooperative of 235 growers farming the galestro-clay hills between Arezzo and Siena. Six of its members hold organic certification; those six growers supply all the fruit for Gatto Grosso. Winemaker Mery Ferrara ferments with native yeasts in large stainless tanks, stirs the lees through a naturally occurring malolactic, and bottles with minimal sulfur and no oak — an honest liter of Tuscany at an honest price.
Sangiovese anchors the structure; Canaiolo and Mammolo soften the edges and push the whole thing toward a more floral, easy-drinking profile. The result carries a fresh mineral edge — galestro does that — with red fruit and a little spice on the finish. Good slightly chilled.
PAIRINGS :
| Margherita pizza | tomato acidity and fresh mozzarella align with the wine's red fruit and herb lift |
| Pasta e fagioli | earthy and mineral — the wine mirrors the rustic legume character; a regional tradition |
| Grilled sausage with fennel | the wine's spice notes pick up the fennel; acidity cuts through the fat |
