Dickel first bottled a 17-year-old in 2016, a 375ml release that sold out fast. This is its return in 750ml, out in December 2022, with barrels picked by General Manager and Distiller Nicole Austin to pay homage to that first bottling — same 84% corn mash bill, charcoal mellowed and aged 17 years in Cascade Hollow's single-story rickhouses outside Tullahoma. Dickel labels it cask strength.

The distillery's notes run to crème brûlée and apricot on the nose, plum and a touch of juniper on the palate, and a cedar finish. Drinkhacker rated it A- and found far less oak than the 2016 bottle: "Dickel proves in 2022 that old bourbon can still be lively and fun to drink." Neat, or over one large cube.
