Buffalo Trace's Stagg — released as "Stagg Jr." until the 2022 rebrand — is an uncut, unfiltered barrel proof Kentucky straight bourbon drawn from the same low-rye Mash Bill #1 as the flagship Buffalo Trace expression. Batch 24C is the third release of 2024, bottled at 128.9 proof without dilution or chill filtration: no water added, straight from the barrel.

The nose leads with dark cherry, toffee, and brandy-soaked vanilla; leather, tobacco, and orange peel underneath. The palate pivots spicy and savory — cinnamon, dark chocolate, black pepper, old leather — all delivered with the heat that 128.9 proof demands. Reviews of Batch 24C are divided: one serious reviewer called it the best bottle of 2024; another called it the worst batch in the line's history.
