George T. Stagg is the centerpiece of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection, bottled annually since 2002 — uncut, unfiltered, exactly as the barrel made it. The 2025 release comes off the barrel at 142.8 proof after 15 years and 4 months in new charred oak, making it the highest-proof Stagg in the collection's 25-year history. No chill filtration, no water added.
Buffalo Trace is the oldest continually operating distillery in America — a National Historic Landmark on the Kentucky River in Frankfort, distilling on this site since 1775. The BTAC has run every year since 2002 (excepting 2021), and the Stagg is consistently the most anticipated release in the lineup. At 142.8 proof it crosses into HAZMAT territory. Fred Minnick called this vintage "incredible" and "intense," noting brown sugar, molasses, peach cobbler, and dried apricot on the nose. The IWSC awarded it World's Best Bourbon in 2024.
