Brothers Steven and Philip DeAngelo founded Greenhook Ginsmiths in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2010 after leaving finance, releasing their flagship American Dry Gin in 2012. The distillery's signature is vacuum distillation — a custom 300-liter copper pot still that operates under reduced atmospheric pressure, distilling the botanicals at dramatically lower temperatures than conventional gin production and preserving the floral and citrus aromatics that would otherwise cook off.

The base is organic New York State wheat, redistilled with ten botanicals: Tuscan juniper, chamomile, elderflower, coriander, lemon peel, sweet orange peel, Ceylon cinnamon, Thai galangal root, orris root, and elderberry.
