Two barrel streams in one bottle: 70% aged in standard Level 3 char, 30% in heavy Level 4 “alligator” char — the same heavy-char proportion Heaven Hill has used in their most serious limited releases, including the Parker’s Heritage Heavy Char series. All 204 barrels were filled on December 13, 2015 — the distillery’s 80th anniversary — and aged on the 4th and 6th floors of Rickhouses G and H in Bardstown. Entry proof was 107, unusually low for Heaven Hill (standard is 125+), which reviewers credit for a smoothness more typical of their 12-year-old releases.

Heaven Hill was founded in 1935 by the Shapira family, who still own it — making it the largest independent, family-owned spirits company in the United States. Ninety years, two million barrels, zero acquisitions. Bourbon Culture called the 90th Anniversary “a baby Parker’s Heritage Double Barreled Blend.” Bourbon Culture score: 8.2/10.
