Nuits-Saint-Georges has no grand cru vineyards, and Les Vaucrains is the site most often called one in all but name — a premier cru known for the village's most structured, age-worthy wines. Jérôme Chezeaux works just over a quarter-hectare of east-facing vines here, farmed under lutte raisonnée.
The cellar stays out of the way: fully destemmed, fermented naturally, malolactic in barrel, racked once, and never more than a third new oak, the ceiling the domaine reserves for its top sites. 2020 was one of the earliest harvests on record in Burgundy — thick-skinned, concentrated Pinot with the acidity to carry it. Built for the cellar more than the weeknight.
