Kings County Distillery has operated from the Brooklyn Navy Yard since 2010 — New York City's oldest working distillery since Prohibition. Empire Rye is their New York-grown expression: 80% Danko rye sourced from Ancramdale in the Hudson Valley, aged a minimum of three years in new charred American oak.

The mash bill borrows from both American and Scotch traditions — the 20% English malted barley adds fermentation complexity and roundness that a pure rye bill wouldn't achieve. Double pot distilled, taking narrow cuts at each stage.
