Louis Barruol Côte Rôtie "La Boisselée" 2014 750mL
FRANCE : NORTHERN RHÔNE : CÔTE RÔTIE
SUSTAINABLE : Syrah (Petite Serine)
FULL-BODIED, IRON, DRIED VIOLET, ROASTED MEAT, BLACK OLIVE, NEUTRAL OAK
Louis Barruol’s La Boisselée is a five-barrel blend drawn from three lieux-dits on the Côte Brune — Besset, Semons, and Le Plomb — made entirely from Petite Serine, an older heirloom clone of Syrah that carries more structure and mineral tension than its modern descendants. Vines average 30 to 50 years old on decomposed schist.
Whole cluster, indigenous yeasts, short maceration, unfiltered. The same protocol the Côte used before extraction became fashionable. The 2014 arrived rounder than the bracketing vintages — softer tannins, silky texture, and vibrant acidity — a cool, wet growing season that drained quickly on the right terroir and left great wine behind.
PAIRINGS :
| Braised lamb shoulder | iron-edged tannins and dark fruit lock into the fat and char |
| Côte de boeuf | full body and structured acidity work through the crust |
| Duck with Niçoise olives | black olive and violet notes mirror what’s already in the glass |
