Louis Roederer's most iconic and famed cuvee, Cristal, was first created in 1876 for the Tsar of Russia. Today it is produced from 45 of the most coveted Grand Cru plots in the Montagne de Reims, the Vallee de la Marne, and the Cote des Blancs. For 2015 that means Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle and Aÿ for the Pinot Noir, and Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for the Chardonnay.

2015 was hot and dry, with record temperatures until rain arrived in the second half of August. 25% of the wines are vinified in oak, there is no malolactic fermentation, and the dosage is 7 g/L — a ripe vintage held taut by chalk and acidity. The plots are farmed with organic and biodynamic practices; Roederer's first organic certification came later, in 2021.
