Marasca Cherry Liqueur

Two centuries of Luxardo family history start with one unusual detail: the entire cherry goes in — fruit, pits, stems, and leaves — macerated three years in larchwood vats, then distilled in copper pot stills, then aged two more years in Finnish ashwood vats neutral enough to contribute nothing but time. What comes out is a liqueur of real density and clarity, built around the marasca cherry's native bitterness rather than sweetened past it.

The family founded the distillery in Zara (now Zadar, Croatia) in 1821, rebuilt it here in Torreglia after WWII destroyed both the plant and the orchards, and still runs it in the 8th generation. The straw-wrapped bottle isn't decorative — it's the original shipping protection, preserved because changing it would be wrong.
