Marchesi di Barolo Gavi 2024 750ml
ITALY : PIEMONTE : GAVI DOCG
SUSTAINABLE : Cortese
MED-BODIED, GOLDEN APPLE, CITRUS, ALMOND, MINERAL, NO OAK
Gavi is one of Piemonte’s most compelling whites — a dry, mineral-driven expression of Cortese grown on marl and silt soils in the southeastern corner of the region. Marchesi di Barolo has made wine in the Langhe since 1807, when the historic cellars were first built; Pietro Abbona purchased the estate in 1929, and today fifth-generation winemaker Ernesto Abbona and his wife Anna run the property.
Cortese here has remarkable sapidity — the mineral quality that makes each sip feel clean and complete rather than just dry. The right wine for Piemontese cooking, and most things that come out of the sea.
PAIRINGS :
| Pesto alla Genovese | the regional match — acidity cuts through basil richness without competing |
| Grilled branzino with capers | mineral and citrus notes mirror the seasoning; clean finish makes each bite fresh |
| Burrata with tomato and basil | structured acidity lifts the creaminess; floral notes tie to the herbs |
