Pascal Biotteau's vineyards in Saint-Jean-de-Mauvrets fall on the seam between Anjou's chalk-limestone west and volcanic schist east — the two soil profiles that give Loire Chenin its tension. The 2023 is the freshest vintage in several years: more floral, lower alcohol, and tighter than the concentrated 2022, with a clean mineral finish that makes it one of the more food-friendly whites on the shelf at any price.
