Sumoll Blanc is nearly extinct — a white mutation of Sumoll Negre, an indigenous Catalan grape that all but vanished in the 20th century as vineyards converted to French varieties. Joan Franquet at Costador Terroirs found the old vines in Barberà de la Conca and built a label around them. “Brisat” is Catalan for skin-contact wine — a tradition here that predates the orange wine trend by centuries.

The grapes macerate for 12 weeks on the skins before fermentation begins in clay amphora with ambient yeasts. Seven months of total amphora time — three on lees, four aging — adds a subtle dried-fruit depth without any oak influence. Unfined and unfiltered.
