Michter's treats the ten-year age statement as a floor rather than a ceiling. Barrels go into this release when the maturation team judges them ready, so whiskey older than the label routinely makes the cut.

Every bottle comes from a single cask, aged in fire-charred new American white oak and held in heat-cycled warehouses that keep the spirit moving through the wood without letting a decade of Kentucky summers flatten it into tannin. No two bottles are identical, which is the point.

Food & Wine named it Best American Whiskey. In July 2020 a single private-selection barrel sold at auction in London for £166,000, roughly $209,000, more than doubling the previous record for a barrel of bourbon.
