Michter's has been named World's Most Admired Whiskey by Drinks International three consecutive years — the first whiskey to hold that distinction more than once. The US*1 Rye is the entry in the lineup: single-barrel, heat-cycled in their Kentucky warehouse program, and built from a rye-forward mash bill that the distillery has never disclosed.

At 84.8 proof it runs lighter than most single-barrel ryes, which means the grain and oak come through cleanly. Baked apple and honey soften the rye spice on the palate; the finish stays dry with a low rumble of pepper and oak. Straightforward to recommend at $49.
