A blend of three Speyside distilleries — all owned by William Grant & Sons, all within a mile of each other in Dufftown. Glenfiddich brings the fresh fruit, Balvenie the honey and weight, Kininvie the lift.

"Monkey shoulder" is the repetitive strain injury malters get from shoveling barley by hand. The brand was designed for bartenders: approachable, consistent, priced for the back bar. It also drinks well neat.

SUGGESTED SERVES :

Neat room temp, 3–5 minutes in the glass — the full vanilla and citrus range comes forward without dilution
Old Fashioned the brand's home territory; baked apple and vanilla hold up against bitters and sugar without disappearing
Single large rock dilution and chill lift the citrus; tamps the mild spice if you find it too warm
