The 40th anniversary edition of From the Barrel — same 100+ batches of malt and grain whisky from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, doubled in the marriage cask. Where the original gets three months in used puncheons at Nikka's Tochigi Aging Cellar, Extra Marriage gets six. The result is softer on the nose, more integrated on the palate, longer on the finish. Still 51.4%.

From the Barrel was named #1 Whisky of the Year by Whisky Advocate in 2018. This edition earned 95 pts from Whisky Advocate and 94 from WhiskyCast. Only 6,900 bottles reached the US.
