Heaven Hill's Old Fitzgerald Decanter Series runs twice a year — green label in spring, black in fall — and every release carries its own age statement, which since 2018 has ranged from eight to nineteen years. This is one of the ten-year bottlings: one distillery, one distilling season, bottled at exactly 100 proof.

The mashbill is the wheated recipe Pappy Van Winkle brought to the brand, the same 68/20/12 grain bill behind Larceny but aged considerably longer and bottled at bond strength. Wheat in place of rye softens the middle; ten years in new charred oak puts the frame back. Nose and finish run to butterscotch, clove, and oak, with a floral, honeyed lift on the palate that reads more subtle than the aromas promise.

The decanter copies a 1950s Old Fitzgerald diamond bottle, and the key on the label has carried the brand's slogan since the 1940s. Allocated, as the series always is.
