Birthday Bourbon marks founder George Garvin Brown's September 2 birthday, and every edition is its own whiskey. The 26th release is drawn from 212 barrels on the third floor of Warehouse B, the oldest warehouse at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, aged 11 years and bottled at 97 proof.

One quirk from the still house: a holiday weekend left the new make in the cistern room for six days, and tank venting nudged its barrel-entry proof from 125 down to 124.4. Old Forester's notes run zesty ginger and vanilla bean on the nose, then warm honey, buttery caramel, tobacco and bright cherry, finishing on toasted oak and herbal mint.

Breaking Bourbon called it "one of the best Old Forester Birthday Bourbons in recent years."
