Paumanok Chenin Blanc 2025 750ml
USA : NEW YORK : NORTH FORK OF LONG ISLAND
SUSTAINABLE : Chenin Blanc
LIGHT-BODIED, GRAPEFRUIT, PINEAPPLE, GREEN APPLE, BRACING MINERALITY, NO OAK
Paumanok Vineyards holds the only Chenin Blanc planting on Long Island — nine acres on the North Fork, sustainably farmed since the estate was founded by Charles and Ursula Massoud in 1983. The Atlantic moderates the growing season by roughly a month on each end, and sandy loam soils keep drainage tight and the mineral edge honest. Cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks and no oak preserves everything that makes Chenin Blanc worth growing here: racing citrus, stone fruit weight, and enough acid to pull food off a plate.
“Year in and year out, this is one of the best American chenin blancs around,” wrote Eric Asimov in The New York Times. Only 1,372 cases produced.
PAIRINGS :
| Seared Wild Striped Bass | citrus edge and mineral backbone hold up to the fish without overrunning it |
| Pan-seared Flounder with Lemon Butter | bright acidity cuts through the butter; pineapple notes meet the lemon |
| Raw Oysters on the Half Shell | classic North Fork pairing — maritime wine, maritime food |
