Pazo de Barrantes is the largest single estate in the Salnés Valley — 12 hectares across eight plots of granitic, sandy soil, farmed on the traditional parral trellis by the Counts of Creixell, whose family has held the property since 1511. Winemaker María Vargas now oversees the estate under the Marqués de Murrieta family.
The 2021 Gran Vino spends two months on lees, then seven months in vessel — 85% stainless steel, 15% in 225L acacia barrels — before 16 months in bottle before release. The result is a structured, mineral Albariño with the tension and coastal salinity that define Salnés at its best. Decanter 95, Wine Advocate 94+, James Suckling 94.
