Kenya's first craft distillery distills with Juniperus procera — the only juniper native to the southern hemisphere — harvested fresh from wild highland forests at 2,000 metres outside Nairobi. Most gins use dried, imported juniper; Procera's proximity to these forests means the berries go straight from harvest to still, producing a resinous, earthy character that dried juniper cannot replicate.

The remaining botanicals travel from across the continent: coriander and orris root from Morocco, Swahili lime and pixie orange from Kenya, cardamom and mace from Zanzibar, acacia honey from Somalia. Distillation is in a 230L Müller Aromat pot still using the "pillowcase" technique — botanicals macerated in a cloth bag at 40°C, never in contact with the pot — which preserves the lighter botanicals and produces a clean, textural finish. Each bottle comes with a botanical salt blend for the glass rim.
