Quinta do Infantado has been bottling estate Port since 1979 — the first producer in the Douro to do so — from exclusively A-grade parcels in the Cima Corgo's Vale de Gontelho. The Roseira family, now in its sixth generation, made a choice that separates this Tawny from nearly everything in the category: ferment further, fortify less. The NV finishes at 19.5% ABV and 70 g/L residual sugar, roughly 30% drier than standard Port, with more natural alcohol and considerably less added brandy.
A blend of 2–3 vintages aged 4–5 years in old 550-liter horizontal pipas — the traditional Douro cask where controlled oxidation builds slowly through thin staves — it shows nuttiness, dried fruit, caramel, and a baking-spice finish that come without the sweetness weight most Tawnies carry. 20,000–25,000 numbered bottles released annually. Wine Enthusiast 86 pts.
PAIRINGS :
| Apple tart | caramel in the wine and the glaze meet each other halfway |
| Aged Manchego | salt and sharpness cut through; nuttiness doubles down |
| Dark chocolate with almonds | mirrors the coffee and toffee; serve slightly chilled |
