Skrewball started as the house shot at a peanut butter bar and restaurant in Ocean Beach, San Diego — the creation of Steven and Brittany Yeng, a husband-and-wife team who turned a restaurant cult favorite into a nationally distributed whiskey brand. Steven, who came to California as a Cambodian refugee, had the original flavor concept; Brittany, an attorney with a master's in chemistry, engineered the production process.

The base is American whiskey — corn, rye, and barley — combined with real peanuts and cane sugar through a proprietary process. At 70 proof, the pour sits squarely in dessert territory: sweet and nutty up front, with genuine peanut butter character building alongside chocolate and caramel, then a salty, buttery finish that keeps it from getting cloying.
