Seehof 'Elektro-Weiss' Weissburgunder Trocken 2025 750mL
GERMANY : RHEINHESSEN
Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc)
LIGHT-BODIED, PEAR, APPLE, CHALKY MINERALITY, SALINE
Weingut Seehof sits in Westhofen, in Rheinhessen's southern Wonnegau, where the Fauth family has run the estate for four generations. Florian Fauth makes the wines today — his sister is married to Klaus Peter Keller, whose estate is about ten minutes down the road.
'Elektro-Weiss' is Seehof's dry Weissburgunder in new clothes; vom Boden, who import it, call it the "former 'Weissburgunder Trocken' now with extra electricity." Trocken means dry, and the wine follows through: crisp pear and apple, a chalky edge, a saline finish. More food-friendly than aromatic, and a clean break from Riesling that keeps the Westhofen precision.
PAIRINGS :
| White asparagus with brown butter | acidity cuts the butter without fighting the asparagus |
| Flammkuchen | crème fraîche and bacon want a dry, crisp white |
| Pan-seared trout | delicate fish and pear-toned Pinot Blanc stay in proportion |
