Named for the stream cutting through the lower clay soils of the estate — where the Merlot grows — Oreno is Tenuta Sette Ponti's flagship: a Bordeaux-variety blend from eastern Tuscany's Valdarno di Sopra. James Suckling scored it 99 points and ranked it #22 on his 2024 Top 100 World Wines. This is the finest vintage Oreno has produced.
Antonio Moretti Cuseri transformed his family's estate in the 1990s — mapping the soils, planting the Bordeaux varieties, and farming everything to organic certification. The Bordeaux structure is deliberate. The Tuscan soul — graphite, balsamic herbs, dark earth — isn't borrowed from anywhere else.
2022 was Tuscany's hottest year on record. The Valdarno's elevation kept freshness intact while the heat concentrated the fruit. The result is denser and more textured than prior vintages, with a drinking window of 2026–2034. Best after 2028 per Suckling. Decant 30 minutes.
